On the Road VI
We’re out here in Atlanta still, been working on picking our singles. So far Slave, All I Ask 1 and Heartbeat. A lot of pressure has been on us to write and create more music, which is funny because in the last year we haven’t written anything but mixtape material since the album, just haven’t had the recording resources for real. Now it’s back to the grind, I sat down and penned some bangers, wrote a song about female soldiers, a song about running away, a revenge love song and of course a track about strippers… Can’t wait to start laying them down again, we visited a dozen studios in Atlanta that all sound and look phenomenal. When everything we’re working on out here is official things about to be amazing on the song production side, I have so many feelings, characters and ideas to put down on the page. A great twist on our label experience is the people out here don’t just not mind us making political music but encourage it… Excited to see what comes of all this, no matter what I wrote some hits to M. Rell bangers.
I see a lot happening in the world and in music right now… Our days just got three minutes shorter from the earthquake in Chile changing the Earth’s axis… It’s funny to me how no one was making political music while we had Bush as President, everyone was “waiting for change” and now we have Obama and still no one’s making political music, even inspirational music. The time is here to provoke thought, its more acceptable in this climate than when people want to use music to dumb down and escape in wartime, but I see no artists taking advantage, even the ones that style themselves intellectual.
This is a time for the creatives to utilize, one of the few chances the musical community has to potentially work towards a universal vision before the aura of acceptability and change goes away due to the ways of the world…
And twitter tried to kill Guru. These are strange times.
Anyway, we perform at Ohio Thursday, a once a year event where the party starts at 8am, then off to Marquette the next day and Illinois after.
