Yeahhhhhhh! Excited for Thursday, first of all, our friends at All In are launching a fresh night at Bar 13 for the after work crowd, featuring no cover for girls and guys with dates, open bar 5-6 and 2 for 1 from 6 to 7. So boys, grab a young lady and treat her to some free drinks after work. If your charm isn’t enough to seal the deal there, YRB is having a party with some guy I don’t know from MTV and the beautiful and talented DJ Kalkutta at The Gates. That’s also open bar from 8-10pm. Take advantage of both of these and get home early.
Man, DIPSET is back! I’ve been convinced for a while now that if Juelz really wanted it, and he stopped dropping shady Chris Brown singles, that he could be the next to run New York, on his Jay-Z… We’ll see. Dipset coming back is step one. This Salute track is HEAVY. Download here.
Our list of 5 Necessary Hamptons Accessories- 1. Cardigan 2. Wooden Shoes 3. Derringer 4. Hash Pipe 5. 2nd Derringer I need live feed of townies faces during the Dirtnasty performance. This luckily gives me an excuse to relive the far too many shows I did with Dirt/Beardo and post these played videos. The first 40 seconds of this is priceless. And for a more intellectually stimulating side to Simon Rex…

Not gonna front, we love Kenzo Digital, City of God’s Son was mind blowing on several levels…. Peep his new project below. Film Director and Video Artist Kenzo Digital releases his latest short film starring designers Dee & Ricky commissioned by Casio/G-Shock to launch the latest G-Shock watch designed by Dee & Ricky. An homage to 8-bit video game culture and Kung-Fu movies, “Super Ultra Kara-tay” finds fashion’s latest phenomenon Dee & Ricky as Kung-Fu students who must defend their Lego Shaolin temple against a nefarious villain and his swarm of ninja assassins. “Super Ultra Kara-tay” is an original and innovative new short film that fuses stop motion animation, martial arts, original music production, and Legos in a unique process that has never been done before. After long long last, it’s here.
Does posting a calendar at the beginning of the week give us an excuse to not blog about nightlife for the next few days? I think yes… Kurt Russel had no swag, the whole film but Isaac Hayes had hands down the best outfit in all of Escape From NY, and we’re gonna pay tribute to this right here…
We’re just gonna make life easier for you this week, go these places, listen to these deejays and drink these specials, then wake up on Sunday and check the photo sites to remember what exactly happened. Dances w/ White Girls x Anton Glamb Night Kids x Happy Ending Stacked Has Moved to Thursdays! The guest singer at The Eldridge on Friday is amazing, she’s been all over some Fool’s Gold Projects. NYC let’s get it!
I hope this can shed some light on the whole Genius of Love phenomena. 30 years later, live in NYC, for an audience of aging hipsters and aged hipsters. Via The Culture of Me
So over at The Eldridge, aka my home away from home, and known on Thursdays as the Melbridge, they’ve taken it upon their creative selves to bring in a dope roster of hot NY deejay talent from across the whole spectrum of NYC nightlife and beyond for guest spots, which we’re happy to reap the benefits of, because we get to see these people and dance to their strange selections. Tonight they had Anton Glamb, of the Radical Outing and Memberz Only crews. I heard “Informer” by Snow and Ace of Base’s “The Sign” in general proximity to Diplo’s remix of “Secret Lover”… This made me happy. Anton and I go way back, like we hung out in 8th grade back, he even sold me my first dj mixer (it was terrible, no eq etc and I’m pretty sure he overcharged me, but I feel I’ve won in the long run) and he’s always been doing very dope stuff, he put me onto people like Pshay and Aphex Twin when I was a pup, and he’s always made dope music. Lo and behold we both live in NYC and he’s the member of a pretty awesome crew called Rad Out, known for kinda wild hipster trash parties and general hedonism. The dopest thing recently I’ve seen from their crew is that they were the models for RockSmith’s spring/summer lookbooks, which is pretty awesome for everyone involved. Peep the pictures below, starting with Anton Glamb himself. And to top it off, the lad can even rap: Download “Lurkin Hard” via Sheena Beaston. http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12/8/2680310/Anton%20Glamb%20-%20Lurking%20Hard.mp3
Not gonna lie, never been to the Hamptons. There isn’t exactly a luxury liner from Brooklyn (or maybe there is, but that sounded kinda mean, brah). The team over here was actually gonna trash it in our “summer getaway guide” and make offhand references to Jersey Shore + 60k but now that’s all changed because we’re DJing there Saturday and we’ve called up all our friends with jobs (sorry recent college/masters/phd graduates) and this one dude has this house with these other dudes and it’s totally right next to Detlef Shrempf’s house and they know these Russian models and all we have to do is bring some Belvedere and it’s on… And we digress.
Afrojack murdered Santos Party House the other night. Questlove announced on twitter it made him rethink his 20 year dj career. This song is his new, as of yet unreleased summer banger.
